​The Challenge

We're looking for a talented animator to bring Mermaid Elle: Saving the Seas to life. This is your chance to show your skills, win $1,000 and be considered for future paid work our upcoming projects.

How It Works

Animate a scene from the book that includes both Mermaid Elle and Gunk. The animation can be 2D or 3D. You can purchase the book on Amazon here so you can choose the part of the story you'd like to recreate and submit.

Location

This competition is open worldwide.

Requirements

• Animation must be at least 10 seconds long

• Must be accurate to the description in the book

• Do not reproduce existing illustrations from the book

• Animation should include the Mermaid Elle and Gunk characters.

Rights & Ownership

You keep full ownership of your submission. By entering, you receive a limited license from the author to create animation based on Mermaid Elle: Saving the Seas solely for this competition. Non-winning entries remain yours and can be shared publicly as portfolio work only.

The Prize

$1,000 awarded to the winning entry.

Please note this is a competition prize only, not a standard per-clip rate. The winner will be considered for future paid work on upcoming projects. Ongoing compensation will be discussed separately based on scope and experience.

Timeline

The submission deadline is July 27, 2026. The winner will be notified and announced within 1 week of the closing date.
